Иллюстрированная история военной авиации США, разбитая по производителям самолетов.
Jim Winchester, the general editor of this title, has produced an attractive and comprehensive coffee table book on U.S. produced military aircraft. Over 3000 photographs are included to illustrate nearly all of the U.S. armed forces aircraft placed into service since just before World War II.
Thumbnail graphics are used throughout to compare an aircraft’s performance (such and range, armament, speed, etc.) with other aircraft which occupy the same niche. These comparisons are not only done against competitive aircraft of other countries but insights are also scattered within the text to bring home that aircraft’s unique attributes. Specialized aircraft are included — like the Lockheed AC-130 Spectre and Boeing MH-47 Chinook — as well as somewhat rare aircraft, such as the license built Pilatus TurboPorter. Oddly, some aircraft were omitted though they were produced in large numbers — the Brewster F2A Buffalo, Boeing AH-64 Apache and Lockheed S-3 Viking are notable due to their exceptions.
